- I am a nanny and traveling teacher. I am head-over-heels over a five-year-old boy. I am loved, cherished, and appreciated by a family that I respect, admire and love in return. I giggle at kid’s jokes. I dance without restraint to Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean and the B52’s Rock Lobster like a crazy teenager on prom night. In addition to my Master’s degree in English Literature, I should be given a master’s degree in ‘Hide and Seek’ and a PhD in ‘Make Believe’. I can bake banana nut muffins in my sleep. Farts make me laugh and kisses make me melt. I have bandaged bloody knees and scraped elbows, wiped snotty noses and salty tears, and kissed sad faces and jubilant grins. I make an amazing bucking bronco. I cheer boisterously and beam with pride at soccer games. I skip down city streets and jump over cracks with his little hand in mine. My heart swells when he adoringly calls my name and runs into my arms burying his head into my chest. My heart breaks when he misses his mom and dad. When he asks for one more kiss when I leave at the end of the day, he holds my heartstrings. My world is richer because I am a nanny.
