Another city, another airport and another interview! This time I met a brother and sister from Long Island in Delta’s Lounge at LAX. Ryan is 11 yrs. old and his older sister, Katie, is 13 yrs. old. Both kids were a delight to interview. Enjoy!
Do you like to travel? Why or why not?
Ryan – I love it! Traveling is just a good experience.
Katie – Yes. I get to go somewhere else and it is fun to go on a plane.
What is your favorite part about traveling? Least favorite part?
Ryan – (Fav.) Just having fun. (Least) The plane rides.
Katie – My favorite part is when you get to the place that you are visiting and you get to be there for a long time and do fun stuff. I don’t like take-off’s in airplanes…It is so scary!
Where is your favorite place that you have traveled to? Why?
Ryan – Rome, Italy. I don’t know. I just loved it. We jumped off a lot of cliffs and stuff. We also saw the ruins which was nice.
Katie – Italy because it is really pretty and nice there. And cool. I loved seeing the Coliseum and the leaning Tower of Pisa.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you want to go? Why?
Ryan – Bora Bora. My friends talk about it and they say it is cool and I saw pictures of it and it looks amazing.
Katie – I want to go back to Italy. It was a cruise the first time, so I would make it a really long trip, like 1 month.
What is the perfect length of a family trip?
Ryan – Summer is the best time for travel and 2 weeks would be good.
Katie – Like 2 weeks. So it is long and you can do more, but you don’t have to rush.
What do you always want to have with you when you are traveling?
Ryan – Electronics. PSP is my favorite.
Katie – My computer. I go online and talk to my friends. No matter where I am, I can talk to my friends.
What kind of vacation is your favorite; ie. camping, hotel, house exchange, safari?
Ryan – Tropical is my favorite. Just like relaxing and stuff.
Katie – Beach or pool! If I could stay in the water all day….I would!
What advice do you have for other kids that travel?
Ryan – Don’t think about anything else—just have fun.
Katie – Pack stuff that would keep you from getting bored, so you will have something to do at all times while you are waiting around.
What advice do you have for parents who want to take their child traveling?
Ryan – Try to travel more often.
Katie – Instead of doing what they want to do all the time, maybe one day ask us what we want to do.
Who is your favorite person or people to travel with?
Ryan – My big sister. We always do stuff together.
Katie – My family.
What kinds of things do you learn when you travel?
Ryan – That you cant do anything better than travel. It is just the best time of your life.
Katie – Facts about places that are foreign to me. There are always new things to learn.
When you are older, do you think you will travel more with work or on vacation? What kind of job do you think you might enjoy?
Ryan – Business mostly. I will be a baseball player and play for the Yankees. Then I could travel for fun as well.
Katie – Travel for fun. I want to be a teacher (2nd grade). And then I could travel during the summer.
What has traveling taught you?
Ryan - Traveling it is better than everything else. You should try it.
Katie – When I was little, I was afraid of flying and planes. Now, I am much braver and not as scared. I have also learned to trust the people that I travel with.
